Wedding Venues in Skopje 2026: Prices and Tips
City restaurants, hotel ballrooms, garden venues on the edge of town, and where couples actually sign

Quick answer
A Skopje restaurant charges 1,350–2,150 MKD (€22–35) per guest in 2026, based on a published price list; hotel ballrooms run an estimated 2,200–4,500 MKD. Listed venues in the city seat 220–650 guests. Saturdays from May to October go first, so book 10–12 months ahead. You sign at the registry office or with a registrar at your venue.
Key takeaways
- Skopje restaurants charge 1,350–2,150 MKD (€22–35) per guest for food and service, based on a published 2026 price list; a five-hour drinks package adds 550–680 MKD (€9–11).
- Hotel ballrooms don't publish prices — our editorial estimate is 2,200–4,500 MKD (€36–73) per guest; in the termin.mk Skopje directory, hotels list capacities of 300–650 guests.
- Garden venues sit on the edge of town — on the Vodno slopes around Nerezi, in Volkovo and in Ilinden — while one restaurant in Matka Canyon publishes 70–80 seats indoors and a 200-guest terrace.
- August 2024 was the busiest wedding month in the country (1,452 marriages) and April the quietest (661), so book a Skopje Saturday between May and October 10–12 months ahead.
- Civil ceremonies in Skopje happen in UVMK premises (100 + 50 MKD in fees), in the Porta Makedonija hall since June 2025, or with a registrar at your venue for 4,765–10,484 MKD (€77–170).

Skopje has the widest choice of wedding venues in the country, and also the busiest Saturdays, the heaviest traffic and the most confusing answer to a simple question: where do we actually sign? This guide stays local. It covers the venue types in the city and on its edge, what they cost per guest in 2026, when to book, where the civil ceremony happens, where to take photos and how to move two hundred people across town. For the general method of comparing any two venues, see our national guide to choosing a wedding venue.
How much does a wedding venue in Skopje cost in 2026?
A Skopje restaurant charges 1,350–2,150 MKD (€22–35) per guest in 2026 for food and service, based on a published price list, and a five-hour drinks package adds 550–680 MKD (€9–11). Hotel ballrooms and premium venues don't publish prices; our editorial estimate for them is 2,200–4,500 MKD (€36–73) per guest, drinks not included.
The published figures come from one Skopje restaurant with five wedding menus priced from €22 to €33 per guest. The difference between the menus is the number of courses and the type of meat, not the size of the room. Its unlimited drinks package runs five hours, from 19:30 to 00:30, at €9 or €11 per guest, with better wine and spirits charged on top. Back in 2023, Denar.mk reported that a Skopje restaurateur already put the porcija at around €25 (1,400–1,500 MKD) as a practical minimum, so the published 2026 range is realistic rather than optimistic.
| Item | Price per guest (2026) | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Restaurant menu (food and service) | 1,350–2,150 MKD (€22–35) | published price list |
| Drinks package, five hours unlimited | 550–680 MKD (€9–11) | published price list |
| Restaurant menu plus drinks | 1,900–2,830 MKD (€31–46) | sum of the published figures |
| Hotel ballroom / premium venue | 2,200–4,500 MKD (€36–73) | editorial estimate |
For 200 guests, a restaurant menu plus drinks comes to roughly 380,000–566,000 MKD (€6,180–9,200), before the cake, late-night food, the crew's meals and any VAT not already in the quote. The full breakdown of what sits outside the per-guest price is in our 2026 price per guest guide.
One warning: termin.mk lists a "minimum price" for many Skopje venues, but some of those figures sit well below any 2026 price list we found. Treat them as a conversation starter, not a quote.
What types of wedding venues are there in Skopje?
Skopje offers four main venue types: city restaurants and wedding halls, hotel ballrooms, garden venues and event centres on the edge of town, and small venues in Matka Canyon. The first page of the termin.mk Skopje directory lists 30 venues with capacities from 220 to 650 guests; the six hotels among them list 300 to 650.
| Venue type | Capacity | Price per guest (2026) | Usually included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| City restaurant / wedding hall | 220–650 (termin.mk directory) | 1,350–2,150 MKD (€22–35), published | Menu and service; drinks as a separate package | Large guest lists and a predictable budget |
| Hotel ballroom | 300–650 (six hotels in the directory) | 2,200–4,500 MKD (€36–73), editorial estimate | Menu, hall, climate control, guest rooms in the same building | Out-of-town guests and winter dates |
| Garden venue / event centre on the edge (Vodno slopes, Volkovo, Ilinden) | 360–600 (Crnobelo overview) | on request, no published price | Garden or terrace, often with a section that can be covered, larger parking | Spring and summer weddings |
| Restaurant in Matka Canyon | 70–80 indoors, 200 on the terrace (one published venue) | on request, no published price | Lake view and a terrace setting | Smaller weddings of up to about 200 guests |
City restaurants are the default: they sell a package per guest and know the local rhythm of the day, from the couple's entrance to the first oro. Some combine a hall with a garden — the restaurant with the published price list lists 100 seats inside, 250 in the garden and parking for about 100 cars. Hotel ballrooms cost more, but guests from Bitola or abroad sleep one lift ride from the dance floor, and a winter date stops being a heating question. Garden venues trade simplicity for space and a view, and Matka suits a shorter list that cares more about the setting than a 400-seat dance floor.

Start for freeWhich venues sit on the edge of Skopje: Vodno, Volkovo, Ilinden or Matka?
Most garden venues sit where the city meets the hills or the highway. A September 2026 Crnobelo overview lists Skopje wedding venues with outdoor space on the Vodno slopes in Nerezi and Gorno Nerezi, in Volkovo, and in Ilinden on the highway toward Kumanovo. Matka Canyon, about 15 km southwest of Skopje, suits smaller weddings.
The venues in that overview list 360 to 600 guests and describe what you pay for on the edge of town: greenery and a view over Skopje, a garden with a roof over the tables, a covered summer terrace. It also separates a "large" from a "small" car park, which matters more than the view when two hundred guests arrive within half an hour.
Matka is a different scale. One restaurant in the canyon publishes 70–80 seats indoors, a summer terrace for 200 guests and room for 50 more in front of the restaurant, and describes the lake view as its main draw. The Saint Andrew monastery is right next to it, and the canyon is one of the best-known photo backdrops near Skopje.
Three things change once you leave the city centre:
- Plan B for rain. Every garden needs a covered space that seats all your guests, not just the cocktail hour. Ask to see it and ask by what time the decision to move indoors is made.
- The registrar fee. If the registrar comes to your venue and it lies more than 10 km from UVMK's official premises, the fee doubles (details below). Ask UVMK which office would send the registrar and how the distance is counted.
- The ride home. A venue on Vodno or in Ilinden is easy to reach by car and harder to leave after midnight for guests who have been drinking. Arrange a shuttle or pre-booked taxis before the day, not during it.
When should you book a wedding venue in Skopje?
Book 10 to 12 months ahead if you want a Saturday between May and October — that is our editorial advice, because Skopje's sought-after halls fill their summer Saturdays first. Nationally, August 2024 had the most marriages (1,452, or 13.1%) and April the fewest (661, or 6.0%), according to the State Statistical Office.
That is also where your leverage is: a Friday, a Sunday or an April date is easier to book, and a hall that would otherwise sit empty is more open to a better menu or a lower minimum. From November to March, hotel ballrooms become the obvious choice.
| When | What to lock in for a Skopje wedding |
|---|---|
| 10–12 months before | The venue, if you want a Saturday from May to October |
| 6–9 months before | Photographer, music and a planner or coordinator, if you want one |
| As soon as the venue is confirmed | Check civil ceremony availability for your date and hour |
| 1–2 months before | Submit the civil marriage request and, if needed, the request for a registrar at the venue |
| 2–4 weeks before | Convoy route, parking plan, hotel rooms and transport for out-of-town guests |
This is an editorial schedule, not a rule.
Where do you sign the civil marriage in Skopje?
In Skopje the civil marriage is registered by UVMK, the Office for Keeping Registers. You can sign in its official premises, where the fees are 100 MKD plus 50 MKD; since June 2025 in the ceremonial hall of Porta Makedonija in the city centre; or with a registrar who comes to your venue for an extra fee.
UVMK in Skopje. The regional office for Skopje is on ul. Kej Dimitar Vlahov bb and works Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:30. Under it sit twelve registry areas across the Skopje region: Čair, Butel, Aračinovo, Gazi Baba, Dračevo, Gjorče Petrov, Ilinden, Petrovec, Studeničani, Saraj, Čučer Sandevo and Šuto Orizari. When you book, ask in which room your ceremony will take place and how many guests can come in with you.
Porta Makedonija. Under an agreement between UVMK and the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Independence, the ceremonial hall inside Porta Makedonija, the triumphal arch in central Skopje, has been available for civil weddings since 1 June 2025 — on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 to 17:30. The first agreement ran until 31 December 2025 with an option to extend, so confirm with UVMK that the hall is still in use for your date.
A registrar at your venue. If you'd rather sign at the restaurant, right before dinner, you submit a written request to UVMK and pay a separate fee on top of the 150 MKD:
| When | Venue within 10 km | Venue more than 10 km away (+100%) |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday, during working hours | 4,765 MKD (€77) | 9,530 MKD (€155) |
| Weekday, after 16:30 | 5,242 MKD (€85) | 10,484 MKD (€170) |
| Saturday, Sunday or public holiday | 10,484 MKD (€170) | 20,968 MKD (€341) |
These amounts are the tariff in force since 1 February 2024, as reported by Vrabotuvanje.mk; the doubled column is our calculation from the 100% surcharge. Check the current amount with UVMK before you plan.
Whichever room you choose, you need valid ID for both of you and two adult witnesses; the full list, including what changes when one partner is a foreign citizen, is in our marriage documents guide. If you also want an Orthodox ceremony in a Skopje church, the civil marriage (or at least a booked civil slot) comes first — the steps are in our church wedding guide.
Where can you take wedding photos in Skopje?
Skopje's classic wedding photo spots are the Stone Bridge, the Old Bazaar, Kale fortress, the Vardar quay and the City Park in the centre, with Vodno and Matka Canyon on the edge. Porta Makedonija is a short walk from the Stone Bridge and the Old Bazaar, so a city-centre ceremony and the couple's photos fit into one afternoon.
- Stone Bridge and Macedonia Square — the most recognisable frame in the city; on a weekend afternoon you will share it with passers-by.
- Old Bazaar — stone streets, old shop doors and courtyards for warm, textured portraits.
- Kale fortress — walls and a view over the whole city, right above the bazaar.
- Vardar quay and the City Park — greenery, water and long paths for relaxed shots.
- Vodno — a wide view over Skopje, convenient if your venue is on the slopes anyway.
- Matka Canyon — the lake, the cliffs and the monastery; about 15 km out, so plan it as a separate stop or marry there.
None of the sources we checked lists a permit or a fee for a couple's photo session in these public places. That is not the same as a guarantee: ask first before flying a drone, before photographing inside a monastery, church or museum, and before bringing a crew with lighting. For photographers who know these locations, browse Skopje wedding vendors on Kazhida.
How do you handle the convoy, parking and out-of-town guests in Skopje?
Plan the day around distance, not just the clock. In Skopje the convoy, the parking and the drive between the ceremony, the photos and the venue take longer than couples expect, especially when the venue sits on the edge of town. Ask each venue how many cars it can park, and give out-of-town guests a hotel and a clear route.
Parking. Ask for a number, not "there's plenty". Parking for about 100 cars usually handles a 250-guest wedding at two to three guests per car (our estimate); a "small" car park means cars along the road. Ask where the convoy stops for the couple's entrance.
The convoy. Put one lead driver who knows the route in front, share a map pin in the family group and stay on main roads. Our editorial rule: leave at least an hour between the ceremony and the reception if photos are in between, more if the venue is on Vodno, in Ilinden or in Matka.
Out-of-town guests. Guests from Bitola, Ohrid, Tetovo or the diaspora need a bed as much as a seat. A hotel ballroom solves this in one building; otherwise reserve a block of rooms early and send the hotel address with the invitation.
Do you need a wedding planner in Skopje?
Usually not for the whole job. Many Skopje venues run the evening themselves, and a free planning app keeps your checklist, budget and guest list in order. A paid planner earns the fee when you live abroad, have more than 300 guests, or combine a church, a registrar and a venue on the edge of town in one day.
Under Kazhida's model, which is an editorial estimate rather than a published price list, a full-service planner costs 5–10% of the budget, around 30,000–180,000 MKD (€500–2,900), and day-of coordination alone about 20,000–50,000 MKD (€325–815). If you're weighing the two, our wedding planner guide explains when a person is worth it and when the app is enough.
When do you need a caterer in Skopje?
Most Skopje weddings don't need a separate caterer, because restaurants and hotels cook in-house and the price per guest already covers food and service. You need catering in Skopje for a villa, a garden, a family home or any venue without its own kitchen — and then staff, equipment and tables are added to the food price.
Before you book a garden or a villa, ask whether it works with a fixed caterer or lets you bring your own, and whether outside cake or drinks carry a fee. Then divide the catering quote by your guest count and compare it with the 1,350–2,150 MKD restaurant range above. What a catering quote should include, and how it is priced, is covered in our wedding catering guide; for caterers who work in Skopje, browse catering on Kazhida.
What should you ask a Skopje venue before paying a deposit?
Ask the questions that are specific to Skopje: parking, the convoy, the registrar, the plan B and the ride home. The general contract checklist, from VAT to cancellation terms, is in our national venue guide; the list below covers the capital.
- Will another wedding share the building, the entrance or the car park that day?
- How many cars fit, and where does the convoy stop for the couple's entrance?
- Can the registrar sign on site, in which part of the venue, and how far is it from UVMK's official premises?
- Where is the covered plan B for the garden or terrace, and does it seat every guest?
- Can guests get a shuttle or a taxi back to the centre after midnight?
Where do you start?
Start with the two numbers that decide everything else in Skopje — the guest count and the day of the week — then compare three venues and lock the civil ceremony slot in the same week as the deposit. Three steps take you from a rough idea to a signed venue:
- Fix the guest count and the day. Decide on an upper limit for the list and whether you need a Saturday. Those two numbers tell you which row of the venue table fits you.
- Shortlist three venues and visit them in one weekend. Browse wedding venues in Skopje on Kazhida, ask each for a written quote with drinks and VAT, and visit all three while the comparison is fresh.
- Check the civil ceremony slot the same week you pay the deposit. Whether you sign at UVMK, at Porta Makedonija or with a registrar at the venue, the date and hour have to match the restaurant's.
Then start your plan on Kazhida and put the venue, the registrar, the photographer and the guest list in one place, so your families see the same plan you do.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a wedding venue in Skopje cost per guest?
Based on a published 2026 price list, a Skopje restaurant charges 1,350–2,150 MKD (€22–35) per guest for food and service, and a five-hour drinks package adds 550–680 MKD (€9–11). Hotel ballrooms and premium venues don't publish prices; our editorial estimate for them is 2,200–4,500 MKD (€36–73). Always compare written quotes for your exact guest count, with VAT spelled out.
Where do couples get married in a civil ceremony in Skopje?
Civil marriages are registered by UVMK, the Office for Keeping Registers. In Skopje you can sign in its official premises, where the fees are 100 MKD plus 50 MKD; since June 2025 in the ceremonial hall of Porta Makedonija, Thursday to Sunday from 14:00 to 17:30; or with a registrar who comes to your venue for an extra fee. Confirm current slots with UVMK before you set the day.
How much does it cost to bring a registrar to a Skopje restaurant?
Under the UVMK tariff in force since February 2024, a registrar outside official premises costs 4,765 MKD (€77) on a weekday during working hours, 5,242 MKD (€85) on a weekday after 16:30 and 10,484 MKD (€170) on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday. If the venue is more than 10 km from the official premises, the fee doubles. Check the current tariff before you plan.
How far ahead should you book a wedding venue in Skopje?
For a Saturday between May and October, book 10 to 12 months ahead — that is our editorial advice, because the sought-after Skopje halls fill their summer Saturdays first. In 2024 August was the busiest wedding month nationally, with 1,452 marriages, and April the quietest, with 661. A Friday, a Sunday or an off-season date is easier to get and often cheaper.
Where are the best wedding photo locations in Skopje?
The classic choices are the Stone Bridge, the Old Bazaar, Kale fortress, the Vardar quay and the City Park in the centre, plus Vodno and Matka Canyon, about 15 km southwest of the city. None of the sources we checked lists a permit or a fee for a couple's shoot in these public places, but ask first before flying a drone or photographing inside a monastery or museum.
Are there outdoor wedding venues around Skopje?
Yes. According to a September 2026 Crnobelo overview, Skopje venues with gardens and terraces sit on the Vodno slopes around Nerezi and Gorno Nerezi, in Volkovo and in Ilinden along the highway to Kumanovo, with listed capacities of 360–600 guests. Matka Canyon suits smaller weddings. Always ask to see the covered plan B that seats every guest if it rains.
